I
am a Social and Policy Entrepreneur, a Development Catalyst, an actor in the
field of Democracy and Good Governance with over Seventeen Years (17)
experience with Perspectives on Social Development, Citizens engagement,
Research and Development, Advocacy and Social Change, Monitoring and
Evaluation, Effective Partnership and Networking, Financial Management and
Reporting, Governance and Management Issues. I was trained by West African
Civil Society Institute (WASCI) Ghana in NGO Management. I am an Alumni of the
Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) with adaptable
and creative skillset in ICT.
I
am the Lagos State Focal Person (SFP) for the British Council EU Funded Agents
for Citizen-driven Transformation (ACT) Project. I am a member of Ecowas
Emergency Response Team – EERT with training from the Ecowas Commission, United
Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), Humanitarian Dialogue – HD
amongst others. I provide Community Support Services to Shell Nigeria Gas – SNG
Limited in Otta and Agbara of Ogun State, Nigeria.
I
am a Pioneer member of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, I represented Ogun West
Senatorial District at the Nigerian Youth Parliament. I served at the National
Youth Council of Nigeria as the State Secretary in Ogun State.
I
provide institutional support, capacity building and mentoring to
Non-Governmental Organisations - NGOs, Community Based Organisations – CBO,
Youth Groups, Women Groups and other Citizens Groups.
I
manage African Foundation for Environment and Development – AFED (www.afedev.org)
as the Executive Director. The organisation focuses on the Local Government Arm
of the Government in the implementation of their policies and programs, with
the hope of building effective governance and service delivery viz-a-viz
democratic dividends at the local government level.

Aare
Surveyor (Dr.) Segun Osifeso is one of the successful children of Late Pa
Daniel Soetan Osifeso who was the only
son of David Osifeso of the renowned
Wunnomo / Matuluko Oguja Royal Family of Iyanro in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun
State. He is one of the 18 children of the large polygamous family.
He
started his education in Ibadan and later proceeded to Western Germany, now
Federal Republic of Germany, where he completed his studies graduating in
Survey Engineering. He thereafter went to the world renowned Enschede, the
Netherlands based International Institute for Aerial Survey and Earth Sciences
(ITC) and qualified in Air Survey Navigation (PGD), thus becoming the first
Nigerian to qualify in such field in this
highly specialized Institution purposely established by the UNESCO for
special trainings for Earth Sciences and Air Surveying programmes, among others.
Aare
Segun Osifeso later came back to the country in 1976 and has since then been
practising the surveying profession as a private practitioner till date. He
founded Mapcotec Nigeria Limited for Air, Land and Sea operations and has
successfully executed projects for both the government and the private sector.
As
a renowned surveying professional and a man of impeccable character, his wealth
of experience has, on several occasions been sought by the government, which
made him to have served at various times as a member of the Land Use Allocation
Committee of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Ogun State and at the state level,
where he served on both the Ogun State Agricultural Committee and the Ogun
State Boundary Adjustment Committee.
In
recognition of his immense contributions to the actualisation of peace in the
African continent through his membership of the Board of Trustees of African
Peace Foundation, Abuja, where the Late South African President, Dr. Nelson
Mandela, was the pioneer President, he was on June 30, 2017 awarded Ph. D in
Humanities (honoris causa) by the Ecole Professionelle Specialise-La-Cite
Universite, Cotonou, Republic of Benin. Also in appreciation of his contributions to humanity, he was on
March 19, 1992 honoured with the Professional Recognition Award by the Federal
Republic of Germany through the German Embassy in Nigeria.
Surveyor
Segun Osifeso, a member of the Ogun State Government owned Olabisi Onabanjo
University Development Foundation, is a philanthropist who has contributed
generously to various organizations like Churches, Mosques, Orphanages, Nursing
Homes and to the needy. It is also on record that as a result of his
philanthropy and contributions to the nation's socio - economic growth, the
Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ota Branch, honoured him with the Award of
Excellence on December 17, 2015, while the Olota of Ota, Oba (Professor)
Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, and all Awori Obas in Ogun State honoured him
with d Chieftaincy title of the Aare Atunluse of Aworiland on Saturday, May 25,
2019. In addition to the laurels, the Diocese of Awori (Anglican Communion)
conferred on him the 'Award of Christian Service' on Sunday, July 28, 2019 and
also for his sterling contributions to the Nigerian Society of Engineers (
Ikeja Branch) in particular and the engineering profession over the years in
general, the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Ikeja Branch, honoured him as
the winner of the prestigious 2019 Ikeja
Engineer Award on Friday, August 30, 2019
A
member of the Rotary Club International, with classification “Air Survey” and a
Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Aare (Dr. ) Osifeso, who
relaxes by playing lawn tennis and golf, has travelled all over the world
visiting Alaska, Brazil, USA and Japan amongst others.
A
man of the world and a man of all seasons, he aspires to be great and
cultivates the friendship of the high and mighty in the land. For him, the
biblical statement, “seeth thou a man diligent in his work, he will stand
before kings and not before mere men”, is a testament and way of life. He has
been blessed and he is a blessing to others.
Surveyor (Dr.) Segun Osifeso is happily married to Chief (Mrs) Margaret Olufunmike Segun-Osifeso, who is the Yeye Aare Atunluse of Aworiland, and the marriage is blessed with children.
