LASU EMERGES WINNER OF THE 2025 ACA - PILIWA MOOT COURT COMPETITION
Lagos State University has once again demonstrated its rising strength in legal education as the University emerged overall winner of the 2025 ACA - PILIWA Moot Court Competition, organised by Advocates for Community Alternatives (ACA) - Public Interest Lawyering Initiative for West Africa (PILIWA), in collaboration with the Caleb University College of Law.
The competition, held in a hybrid format from 17th to 28th November 2025, featured ten participating universities across South-West Nigeria. Preliminary rounds were conducted virtually, while the semi-final and final rounds took place at the College of Law, Caleb University, Magodo City Campus, Lagos.
LASU was ably represented by Azeez Babatunde Adeleke (Coach), Abdulquadri Ajeniya (Oralist) and Sarah Atere (Oralist).
The team displayed exceptional legal reasoning, advocacy skills, and an impressive command of public interest and environmental law, earning them the top position at the competition.
Other outstanding students who made significant contributions to the preparation of the competition memorials included Lawal Fikayo (For the Applicant’s Memorial), and Ghazal Muhammad Awwal Boluwatife and Rasheed Mariam (For the Respondent’s Memorial).
Their dedication and scholarly input were instrumental to the team’s success.
In her congratulatory message, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, expressed immense pride in the students for bringing honour to the University. She commended their diligence, brilliance, and discipline, describing their victory as a reflection of LASU’s commitment to academic excellence and the nurturing of globally competitive graduates.
She further encouraged the team to continue striving for higher achievements, noting that their performance has reinforced LASU’s reputation as a leading institution in legal education and advocacy training.
