Baby Naming Ceremony Turns Violent, Family Pleads for Protection

By Irene Willougby

A joyful celebration turned into a nightmare when unknown men in black disrupted the naming ceremony of a newborn baby girl at No. 10 Hiltop Street, Lafenwa Idiagbalumo, Itele, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria on November 12, 2024.

According to Eseola Deborah Morenike, the mother of the baby, this was the second time she had been attacked by these men. She recounted how they had previously attacked her during her pregnancy while she was on her way to the market.

The incident occurred immediately after the Alfas had named the baby Ayilara Murewa Eniaje Sumayah. Eseola's husband is currently in Canada, having fled the country due to threats on his life from a group that wanted him to join their secret cult and his ex-worker who had earlier threatening to deal with her husband before he traveled out of the country.

During the naming ceremony, Eseola's siblings, Eseola Peter Ayomide and Eseola Olabisi Elizabeth, were attacked by the men in black. Her mother-in-law was also injured while trying to protect the baby.

Eseola is now appealing to Nigerians and the relevant authorities to help protect her newborn baby and her own life from these evil men. She also vow to involve humanright body and also file a petition to Nigeria Police, Zone 2 on the incidents she hope that her efforts through Media and other available means will stop further attacks.
