Agbara Grammar School Emerges Victorious in 2025 S.T.E.M Competition Organized by NSE OTA Branch

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Ota Branch has successfully concluded the 2025 S.T.E.M competition, with Agbara Grammar School emerging as the top winner. The competition, held at the Conference Room of the College of Engineering, Covenant University, Ota, saw participation from various secondary schools within Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government. 

The theme for this year’s competition was “Designing Innovative Traffic Light Systems,” focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to identify problems and challenge students to find solutions.

According to Dr. Edith Alagbe, the branch chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ota branch, the theme was chosen to test the problem-solving ability of secondary school students in STEM. The competition required students to design a smart traffic light system that utilizes sensors to optimize traffic flow, which was showcased through presentations by different schools.

Hon. Tunji Akinosi FNSE, Member of the House of Representatives, Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, sponsored the competition and lauded the NSE for their efforts in developing Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government. 

He promised to continuously support the program, emphasizing its importance in shaping the future of safer and smarter mobility in the constituency.

Agbara Grammar School, Agbara, took the first position, followed by Oke Ore Grammar School in second place, and Iroko Community High School, Iroko Arije, in third place. All participants received awards, with the winners taking home cash prizes. 

Alhaji Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA, Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, expressed gratitude to the NSE for their initiative and appreciated Hon. Tunji Akinosi for sponsoring the program, reaffirming the local government’s commitment to advancing education and promoting creativity among the youth.
