Ado-Odo/Ota LG Takes Steps to Sanitize Markets and Name Streets 

The Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government has taken significant steps to improve the business environment and overall quality of life for its residents. Under the leadership of Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, the Local Government has constituted two committees to tackle pressing issues in the community.

The Market Sanitation Committee, led by Vice Chairman Hon. Abosede Balogun, comprises the following members:

Supervisor for Works and Housing
Supervisor for Health Services and Environment
Special Adviser on Special Duties
Treasurer
Director of General Services and Administration
Director of Water and Environment Sanitation
Head, Works and Housing
Babaloja
Iyaloja
Representative of Hausa Community
Representative of Igbo Community
Rate Officer
Area Officer
Youth Leader of the Community

This committee is tasked with sanitizing markets throughout the Council area, with primary functions including checking irregularities, removing illegal structures, stopping illegal trading, preventing unauthorized fees collection, and ensuring compliance with market regulations. The Executive Chairman charged the committee to work tirelessly to restore order and sanity to the markets.

In a related development, the Local Government has also inaugurated a committee on street naming, comprising:
Supervisor for Works And Housing
Supervisor for Information Education And Sports
Supervisor for Community And Social Development
The Treasurer
Director of General Services And Administration
Head of Works And Housing
Head of Information Education And Sports
Head of Community And Social Development
Street Naming Officer

This committee is tasked with ensuring proper registration and renewal of streets within the Local Government area, identifying and addressing the issue of illegal streets, and maintaining order and facilitating efficient navigation within the Local Government area.

The inauguration ceremonies for both committees were attended by various stakeholders, including market heads and the Iyaloja General of Ado-Odo/Ota LG, who pledged their support for the committees' activities. The committees' establishment is part of the Local Government's efforts to improve the business environment and enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
